Abstract: This review essay reflects on some trends in psychoanalytic discourses’ approaches to trans*ness. Assessing Lacanian and Laplanchean approaches, as well as different attempts to politicize psychoanalysis vis a vis trans* subjects, the article reads Avgi Saketopoulou’s and Ann Pellegrini’s recent book Gender Without Identity as a reflection of some of the challenges facing critical theory today.
