In 2019, Paul B. Preciado stood before three and a half thousand members of the École de la Cause Freudienneand declared: ‘I am the monster that speaks to you’. The divided reactioncrystallised a paradox: a discipline devoted to listening responded with refusal. This article takes that moment to develop two concepts in social theory: strategic certainties, the practices through which institutions transform interpretive heuristics into ontological verdicts, immunizing their frameworks against challenge; and epistemic habitus, the patterned dispositions through which such certainties are reproduced and transmitted. Lacanian institutionalisationand its pathologisation of trans experience as psychotic structure constitute a limit case of this mechanism, analytically privileged on four grounds. Trans experience challenges Lacanian sexuation at its core; the trans-psychosis association is exceptionally stable; the passage from heuristic to ontology is unusually visible; and the trans subject speaks, entering the space of classification to contest it from within. Against these closures, the article proposes radical reflexivity, the dispositionto hold one's own categories open in the encounter with what they cannot yet name. The monsters were never in those who spoke, but in the certainties that imagined them.
