Development of the Standards for the Design and Construction of Small Dams in Bulgaria, Compliance of the Existing Small Bulk Dams with the Requirements of the Current Regulatory Base

This work aims to show the differences in the individual norms for the design of bulk dams from the first design norms to the current ones in the process of design and construction of bulk dam walls in Bulgaria. Normative documents – rules, instructions, norms and regulations covering the legal framework in hydrotechnical construction are reviewed. Technical conditions related to the safety of the earth-embankment dam in the years of development of dam construction in Bulgaria are indicated, being compared with the requirements for the op-eration and maintenance of small dams today.
