General analysis of newly emerged methods in Bulgarian engineering practice for stabilizing unstable slopes using piles and concentric anchors

Common difficulties encountered during pilot drilling in rock formations often compel investors and contractors to seek alternative solutions for the easier construction of retaining structures. In Bulgarian engineering practice, a growing trend involves the implementation of a method whereby vertical anchors, longer than the cast-in-place piles themselves, are installed through the center of the piles. The objective of this publication is to investigate the reasons necessitating the use of this alternative solution, to conduct an economic and technical comparison between the emerging and the conventional methods, and to evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of the alternative approach in various application scenarios.
