Analysis finds Norberto Bobbio's approach to peace through law presents a unique blend of realism and idealism in international relations.
War is, undeniably, one of the problems that is always present among the most important concerns of various human groups. For this reason, it is one of the recurring themes in the works of many authors who have analyzed the possibilities of establishing peace in international society over the last few decades. Among these authors, the Italian jurist Norberto Bobbio stands out. This author is indeed concerned with the subject and does so from a theoretical perspective that can be called peace through law. From this perspective, this research asks: can Norberto Bobbio be considered an idealist or a realist author from the point of view of international relations? The preliminary hypothesis is that, although he does not have an idealistic view of international relations, his unsatisfied realist perspective is based on the idea that law plays a central role in the quest to build a scenario of lasting peace. For this reason, the first section looks at the life and work of Norberto Bobbio, and then discusses his pacifist proposal. To this end, the hypothetical-deductive scientific method and the bibliographical research technique were used.
