Case report demonstrates successful recanalization of obstructed colorectal anastomosis, suggesting new treatment options.
We report the first successful use of a cautery-enhanced lumen-apposing metal stent to recanalize a completely occluded colorectal anastomotic stricture in a patient with prior failed surgical revision. Traditional endoscopic approaches were unsuccessful due to the inability to pass a guidewire. Using dual endoscopic visualization and direct needle puncture, a new tract was created with cautery-enhanced lumen-apposing metal stent, restoring luminal continuity. The patient recovered uneventfully, with sustained resolution at 6-month follow-up. This case highlights a novel, minimally invasive option for managing refractory colonic strictures when standard techniques are not feasible.
