Case report highlights myocardial infarction in an unvaccinated child with COVID-19, suggesting importance of monitoring cardiac symptoms.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) has led to considerable global morbidity and mortality. Though pediatric myocardial infarction (MI) is rare, COVID‐19 induced hyperinflammation and hypercoagulability may precipitate coronary thrombosis leading to MI. We report a rare case of an unvaccinated 4‐year‐old boy developing STEMI secondary to COVID‐19 related coronary artery thrombosis. This case emphasizes the importance of considering acute coronary events in pediatric patients with COVID‐19 presenting with cardiac symptoms, given the evolving understanding of COVID‐19 cardiac complications in children.
