Innovative system detects mycotoxins in food rapidly, implying greater food safety with automated processes.
Highlights Automated sample pretreatment with one-click replaces manual operations, eliminating the need to handle any standards throughout the process, thereby protecting the health of laboratory personnel. The instrument completes the detection of a set of 4 toxins within 20 min, using automatic 4-position positive pressure filtration, with a liquid sampling accuracy of 100 µL not exceeding 5%. High sensitivity, wide detection range, recovery rate between 80% and 125%, coefficient of variation not exceeding 12%. ABSTRACT. Mycotoxins pose a significant peril to both human and animal health, contributing to substantial financial losses for the food industry. Due to the extremely low content of mycotoxins in cereal and oil food and the limitations of traditional detection techniques, the development of novel detection techniques is crucial. This paper introduces a fully automatic mycotoxin detector. Aflatoxin B1, deoxynivalenol, ochratoxin, zearalenone, and other mycotoxins can be accurately detected by the device, which relies on the photoelectric detection principle and the immunofluorescence quantitative approach. It also automates sample pretreatment. The instrument features a single-button wizard setup, simplifying operation and minimizing the demands on laboratory personnel while maintaining accuracy, stability, and parallelism. It also features high-precision liquid extraction, four-channel integration, an automatic 4-position positive pressure filtration system, automatic cleaning and sterilizing, etc. It has a wide detection range with good recovery and a coefficient of variation. The instrument has demonstrated effective performance in the grain, feed, and food industries, successfully overcoming the limitations of conventional detection methods.
