Case study demonstrates improved data integration and monitoring in infrastructure maintenance, suggesting benefits for existing workflows.
The management of infrastructure faces significant challenges in handling complex data. This paper presents two complementary data frameworks developed within the LifeMACS project, a project that aims to optimize maintenance decisions for concrete structures using Bayesian analytics. The first framework combines Building Information Modelling (BIM), Internet of Things (IoT) and a central database in an OpenBIM-based system, featuring a real-time building dashboard. The second framework employs a Linked Data approach, enabling complex semantic querying of the model. Both frameworks share a custom buildingSMART Data Dictionary. The system's effectiveness was demonstrated through a monitored bridge case study, showing improved data integration and real-time monitoring capabilities while maintaining compatibility with existing industry workflows.
