Recent advances showcase the synthesis of high-oxidation-state securinega alkaloids, highlighting oligomerization and oxidation processes.
Securinega alkaloids have captivated the synthetic chemistry community for nearly seven decades. Among these structurally diverse secondary metabolites, certain members arise through oligomerization and oxidation of monomeric securinega alkaloids. While the synthesis of monomeric securinega alkaloids has been extensively studied, the chemical synthesis of their oligomeric and highly oxidized counterparts has remained largely unexplored due to the absence of enabling synthetic technologies. In this presentation, our group’s recent advances in the synthesis of high-oxidation-state securinega alkaloids will be presented. Furthermore, the development of a natural product-inspired molecular photoswitch will be discussed.
