Descriptive-correlational analysis shows CBEE boosts civic engagement and sustainable action in Barangay Luksuhin Ibaba.
This study explores the impact of community-based environmental education (CBEE) on civic engagement and sustainable action in Barangay Luksuhin Ibaba, Alfonso, Cavite, focusing on its effectiveness in promoting environmental awareness and behavior change. CBEE plays a vital role in addressing local environmental challenges, such as improper waste disposal, by fostering community involvement through participatory learning, collaboration with local institutions, and empowerment. The study used a descriptive-correlational design to assess how CBEE components influence sustainable behaviors and community engagement. Findings indicate strong positive correlations between CBEE strategies (participatory learning, accessibility, collaboration, and empowerment) and increased civic engagement, sustainable action, and social mobilization. Regression analysis revealed that civil engagement, sustainable action, and social mobilization significantly influenced outcomes in environmental education programs. Recommendations for strengthening CBEE include prioritizing inclusive and participatory learning approaches, enhancing local collaborations, fostering ownership of sustainability initiatives, and ensuring access for underrepresented groups. Continuous evaluation and adaptation of programs are crucial for achieving long-term environmental stewardship and fostering collective responsibility. This study contributes to the understanding of CBEE’s role in sustainability efforts and highlights the importance of local community involvement in driving environmental change.
