Innovative approach combines 4D bio-printing and nanomaterials for dynamic, personalized therapy.
In the innovative space of advancing regenerative medicine and personalized therapeutics, nanomaterial-integrated 4D bio-printing is an exciting new frontier. Unlike traditional 3D printing, 4D bio-printing adds the temporal aspect of transformation; it enables constructs to alter shape or function over time as their chemical composition reacts to factors in the miniaturized physiological environment. Since nanomaterials often add an element of reactivity or responsiveness, the addition of nanomaterials allows for printed tissues and organs to have dynamic behavior. Dynamic, responsive printed constructs can be functional, living implants that remodel in vivo and self-heal in patients or more complex constructs able to dynamically interact with biology.
