MOGLI 2.0 predicts mould growth risk in buildings based on moisture levels, indicating safer design choices.
Mould growth depends on relative humidity (RH), temperature and material susceptibility. The MOGLI (MOuld Growth LImit) model predicts risk based on the material parameter critical moisture level (RHcrit), determined in laboratory tests, and the expected climate conditions in the building. We present MOGLI 2.0, an improved version of the model, implemented in a user-friendly web application. Key innovations include explicit uncertainty intervals for RHcrit, a risk accumulation method that considers both how long and how far RH exceeds RHcrit, and the use of threshold times derived from laboratory observations. Validation with field data from attics and crawl spaces demonstrated good agreement between predicted and observed mould growth. The tool supports early-stage design decisions for moisture-safe buildings and is currently available as a beta version.
