Genome sequence reveals chromosome structure in Lepidoptera, suggesting insights into Erebidae evolution.
<ns3:p>We present a genome assembly from an individual male <ns3:italic>Calliteara pudibunda</ns3:italic> (Pale Tussock; Arthropoda; Insecta; Lepidoptera; Erebidae). The genome sequence has a total length of 1 035.55 megabases. Most of the assembly (99.83%) is scaffolded into 88 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the Z sex chromosome. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 16.72 kilobases. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.</ns3:p>
