Analysis reveals insulation issues in porcelain-clad zinc oxide arresters, suggesting maintenance improvements may be needed.
This paper analyzes the defects of a porcelain-clad zinc oxide arrester in a 220kV substation through experimental verification and disassembly inspection. It is found that the insulation performance of the upper and lower sections of the arrester has significantly deteriorated, with partial breakdown of resistor sheets and surface discharge traces. Potential causes, including resistor sheet quality issues and uneven potential distribution, are discussed, providing references for the operation and maintenance of similar equipment.
