This method demonstrates synthesis of fluorescent stilbenes with high thermal stability, suggesting efficient optical properties with intramolecular charge transfer.
A highly efficient, nucleophile‐induced, base‐mediated ring transformation strategy was developed for synthesizing highly functionalized, fluorescent stilbenes with excellent thermal stability. This method proceeds under mild conditions at room temperature, yielding high‐purity products with minimal byproducts. Optical studies revealed systematic redshifts in the emission spectra among the derivatives, depending on the nature and strength of donor and acceptor substituents Derivative. All derivatives exhibited fluorescence in the range of 439–489 nm, and derivative 25a specifically showed a strong positive solvatochromic effect due to intramolecular charge transfer (ICT). TG‐DTA analysis confirmed a single‐step evaporation process, with stability up to 450 °C. Single‐crystal x‐ray diffraction showed that compound 25b crystallizes in the triclinic P‐1 space group.
