Review highlights new risk detection methods for prohibited substances in sports, suggesting omics technologies improve anti-doping control effectiveness.
The large-scale crisis in international sports caused by the spread of coronavirus has led to a deterioration in the physical fitness of athletes, which has contributed to an increase in the possibility of taking prohibited substances and methods. Recent scientific advances in the field of "omics" technologies create potential risks of their use to improve athletic performance. Research on the development of new analytical approaches and methods for identifying doping based on the latest advances in transcriptomics, proteomics, genomics and metabolomics has become relevant. The review summarizes and analyzes new analytical approaches to detecting substances and methods prohibited in sports based on "omics" technologies. The results of the studies can be used to improve the quality and effectiveness of modern doping control.
