Key Points

  • Bembecia ichneumoniformis was recorded in 32 localities on the Crimean Peninsula.
  • Most specimens were collected using artificial sex attractants, confirming their positive role.
  • This distribution marks the first record of B. ichneumoniformis in the Federal City of Sevastopol.
  • Further studies on Lepidoptera distribution may depend on sex attraction techniques.

Abstract

The distribution of Bembecia (Bembecia) ichneumoniformis (Denis et Schiffermüller, 1775) on the Crimean Peninsula is described and illustrated. Most of the specimens were collected using artificial sex attractants. This species is found in two administrative-territorial units of the Crimean Peninsula, namely the Republic of Crimea and the Federal City of Sevastopol’. B. ichneumoniformis was found in 32 localities, including those noted in literature and Internet resources. This species is recorded for the Federal City of Sevastopol’ for the first time. The positive role of artificial sex attractants for the practice of clarifying the details of the distribution of individual species has been confirmed once again.
