Analysis shows shear stress is influenced by clearance and punch shape in durability tests, suggesting optimal designs.
After quenching and tempering (QT) heat treatment, the PVD coating (TiN, TiAlN) and shape of the edges of the sub-zero-treated punches affect the shear stress and wear level. Thus, an improvement plan is proposed in this study using a durability test. To ensure the durability of the punch, QT heat treatment is performed on an STD11 material and the TiAlN coating of the punch treated at sub-zero. For the punch shape, the flat-type shape was found to be the most suitable. Additionally, the effect of the clearance on the maximum contact force of the punch and von Mises stress was found to be insignificant.
