Analysis reveals optical characteristics in aluminum phthalocyanine thin films, suggesting new applications in heterojunction devices.
The optical and electrical characteristics of thin films based on organic Aluminum phthalocyanine (AlPc) molecules are highlighted across this study. The transmittance of this material exhibits a tight peak and valley within a 446 nm range. In the UV-Vis-IR range, dielectric properties, including the extinction coefficient and refractive index, are well examined. The values of the Urbach energy, Eu, and optical band gap, Eg, are found to be 33 meV and 2.6 eV, respectively. A detailed study on based on single oscillator dispersion of organic film is evidenced by the plots of (n 2 -1) -1 as function of both (hν) 2 and 1/λ 2 and n 2 vs. λ 2 . So, interesting findings of nonlinear optic (NLO) properties are revealed and values of E d , E 0 , S 0 , λ 0 , n 0 , ε ∞ , ε L , N/m* are accurately determined for such organic film. Electrical parameters are extracted from the current-voltage characteristics of Au/AlPc/Si/Al heterojunction in dark and room temperature conditions.
