Assessment reveals reliability and psychometric properties of the Cassidy and Lynn Scale in 747 individuals, indicating potential for refinement.
The present study assessed the reliability and factor structure of the Cassidy and Lynn (1989) multi-faceted achievement motivation scale (CLAMS). Participants (N = 747) completed the CLAMS, along with several other scales, as a part of a personality questionnaire mass-testing session. Internal consistency was acceptable at both the sub-scale and composite levels. A confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the seven-factor model fit poorly. Implications of the present study's findings relative to the further development and use of the CLAMS are discussed.
