Theoretical framework shows emotional reactions guide navigational responses in imaginal space, suggesting potential therapeutic insights.
This work introduces Alefela—a spatial predictive framework of consciousness in which emotions function as virtual motivators localized within imaginal space (Sartre, 1940; Corbin, 1964) that trigger preventive or facilitating reactions (avoidance/realization) to forecasts. The system operates through a basic cycle: Observation → Forecast → Motivator → Reaction → New Observation. In contrast to interoceptive models of predictive coding, the Alefela framework postulates: (1) emotions evaluate forecasts (positive/negative) and drive reactions (avoidance/realization), (2) intensity follows an inverse distance law (I ∝ 1/d^α), (3) attention operates through spatial motivators that guide navigation and preventive blocking, (4) chain reactions arise when preventive reactions or external circumstances create new observations with more urgent forecasts, producing escalating motivational intensity. The theory formalizes the therapeutic insight mechanism through discrete recategorization: when an unconscious forecast becomes conscious, it translates into the status of observation, leading to instantaneous motivator disappearance. The framework is based on the author's systematic phenomenological research (2012–2025) and generates five falsifiable predictions distinguishing Alefela from predictive processing and constructed emotion theories. The discrete moment of motivator disappearance when a forecast becomes conscious serves as a reproducible phenomenological marker — involuntary yet observable — allowing elicitation of consciousness structure and theoretical inference. Independent empirical validation is necessary. Version:1.0 This manuscript was originally written in Russian.
