Randomised trial improved quality of life and reduced inflammatory response in advanced lung cancer patients, indicating gefitinib may enhance chemotherapy outcomes.
Objective To analyze the effects of gefitinib combined with chemotherapy on patients with advanced lung cancer. Methods According to the random number table method, 68 patients with advanced lung cancerwere divided into two groups (n = 34). Patients in the control group were treated with conventional chemotherapy (cisplatin + gemcitabine), while patients in the observation group were treated with the conventional chemotherapy regimen (cisplatin + gemcitabine) + gefitinib. The changes in the KPS scores, immune function indicators, and inflammatory response indicators were compared between the two groups. The adverse reactions of the patients were collected. Results After treatment, the KPS score of patients in the observation group was significantly increased compared with that before treatment, and was significantly higher than that in the control group. After treatment in both groups, the serum inflammatory response factors IL-6, IL-10, S100A8, and S100A9 decreased compared with those before treatment, and those in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group. After treatment in the observation group, CD3+, CD4+, and CD4+/CD8+ were significantly increased compared with those before treatment, while CD8+ was significantly decreased compared with that before treatment. The adverse reaction rate in the control group was significantly higher than that in the observation group. Conclusion Gefitinib combined with chemotherapy can effectively reduce the inflammatory response effect, enhance the immune function, improve the quality of life of patients, and effectively reduce the adverse reactions of patients after systemic chemotherapy in patients with advanced lung cancer.
