Numerical analysis demonstrates broadband vibration suppression in mechanical arm systems using NESs, suggesting effective engineering applications.
In engineering practice, coupling beam systems with coupling angles are widely employed in various engineering occasions, including engineering vehicle robotic arms, frame-type offshore platforms, and others. The lack of studies related to NESs on the dynamic behavior of coupling beam systems with coupling angles limits the engineering application of NESs. Motivated by the above limitations, this study establishes the dynamic control model of a longitudinal and transversal coupling vibrating beam system with NESs. According to the numerical analysis, the GTM correctly predicts the dynamic behavior of the longitudinal and transversal vibrating beam system with NESs. A suitable combination of longitudinal and transversal expanding modal orders ensures the accuracy of the numerical results. Longitudinal and transversal NESs broadband suppress the total vibration of the beam system. NESs’ working states are called linear and nonlinear broadband states. Non-single-period responses are motivated by NESs. Increasing the nonlinear stiffness of longitudinal and transversal NESs positively impacts the vibration suppression ratio of the beam system. Longitudinal and transversal NESs can effectively broadband suppress the total vibration of the beam system under different coupling angles between them. Overall, this research studies the dynamic control of a longitudinal and transversal coupling vibrating beam system by using longitudinal and transversal NESs, providing a feasible way for controlling the longitudinal and transversal coupling vibration of beam systems.
