Photophysical properties show strong emission in pyrazole ligand, suggesting potential for future applications.
A series of trans-bis(iminomethylazolato)Pt(II) complexes with pyrazole, imidazole, and pyrrole backbones were synthesized and their photophysical properties were compared. The pyrazole complex exhibited intense phosphorescence (Φ298K = 0.42), while the others were weakly or non-emissive. Photophysical analyses revealed that high kr and suppressed knr account for the strong emission. ZORA-TDDFT calculations reproduced the trend in kr, and minimum-energy crossing point (MECP) analyses provided qualitative insight into knr, highlighting the role of ligand backbone in tuning Pt(II) phosphorescence.
