Immunoassay detects analytes in fluid samples, suggesting enhanced real-time detection with electrochemical impedance.
Introduction/Objective Advances in device engineering and electronics miniaturization have expanded the scope of point-of-care testing (POCT). Yet, most fluid-based POCT platforms remain constrained to qualitative or semi-quantitative formats such as lateral flow assays. To overcome this limitation, we developed a quantitative electrochemical immunoassay platform. Methods/Case Report Our immunoassay platform is based on Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) electrodes functionalized with capture probes, including antibodies, antigens and aptamers. Binding of the target analyte changes the electrochemical impedance, enabling direct label-free real-time detection. Results We further show that this assay can be performed in a single-phase wash-free format, facilitating rapid and simplified operation. We have demonstrated its utility in serological assays and antigen detection from clinically relevant matrices. Conclusion The high sensitivity of impedance-based detection enables precise and specific quantification of analytes at the point of care, providing a scalable solution for diagnostic and prognostic applications in diverse clinical settings.
