Case report highlights a perforated Meckel’s diverticulum in a two-month-old with inguinal hernia, suggesting surgical intervention is needed.
Meckel’s diverticulum (MD) is the most common congenital anomaly of the gastrointestinal tract, often asymptomatic, but may present with complications such as bleeding, obstruction or perforation. Its occurrence within a hernial sac (Littre’s hernia) is extremely rare in neonates and infants. We present the case of a 2-month-old male with incarcerated right inguinoscrotal hernia, where exploration revealed a perforated MD. Surgical management involved segmental ileal resection with primary anastomosis, and post-operative recovery was uneventful.
