Observational analysis clarified geological conditions in the Southern Cis-Urals, indicating significant tectonic structures.
The article presents the results of structural and geological study of the Ik–Sakmara segment of the western zone of frontal deformations of the Urals. Within this tectonic zone, a thick complex of Upper Paleozoic sedimentary rocks composing the eastern slope of the Pre-Ural Trough was deformed. The studies carried out, including field analysis, mapping, and construction of geological cross-sections, clarified the tectonic structure of the Southern Cis-Urals. Multi-rank tectonic structures were identified and combined into a single folded-fault paragenesis formed under regional horizontal compression. The allochthon structure of the deformation zone was substantiated, with the thickness of the allochthonous plate (7–8 km) and displacement amplitude along the detachment (up to 40%) estimated.
