Analysis identifies radiative decay channels of excited charmed baryons, suggesting QCD may clarify their properties.
We perform a comprehensive investigation of the radiative decays of <a:math xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <a:mi>P</a:mi> </a:math> -wave charmed baryons in the <c:math xmlns:c="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <c:mi>S</c:mi> <c:mi>U</c:mi> <c:mo stretchy="false">(</c:mo> <c:mn>3</c:mn> <c:mo stretchy="false">)</c:mo> </c:math> flavor <g:math xmlns:g="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <g:mrow> <g:msub> <g:mrow> <g:mn mathvariant="bold">6</g:mn> </g:mrow> <g:mrow> <g:mi>F</g:mi> </g:mrow> </g:msub> </g:mrow> </g:math> representation, employing the light-cone quantum chromodynamics (QCD) sum rule approach within the framework of heavy quark effective theory. We analyze their electromagnetic transitions into ground-state charmed baryons via photon emission. When combined with the mass spectra and strong decay properties previously studied in Yang and Chen [], our results constitute a systematic and complete QCD sum rule analysis of the <j:math xmlns:j="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <j:mi>P</j:mi> </j:math> -wave singly charmed baryons within the framework of heavy quark effective theory. As summarized in Table V, several excited charmed baryons are found to possess suppressed strong decay widths, thereby rendering their radiative decay channels particularly significant for experimental identification and theoretical understanding.
