Analysis reveals significant changes in quality assessment of E-glass fabrics, with evaluations of porosity and contact angle metrics.
The testing and evaluation methods of the spreading effects on E-glass woven fabrics are studied. Multiple improved methods are proposed based on the existing methods, which are summarised into four types, including the surface method, the section method, the air permeability method and the wettability method. These four testing and evaluation methods are used to separately test several different types of E-glass woven fabrics. The surface method shows that the porosity of glass fabrics dropped by 35–58% after spreading and the section method shows that the height of yarn amplitude dropped by 5–11%. The air permeability method shows that the air permeability of glass fabrics dropped by 25–37% and the wettability method shows that the contact angle between diluted epoxy and glass fabrics dropped by 12–27%. According to different fabric types and various application requirements, the spreading effects on E-glass woven fabrics can be comprehensively evaluated using various methods, which can help E-glass and CCL companies to better evaluate the quality of spread fabrics.
