Layered material CuCrSe2 has recently attracted increasing attention because of its fascinating superionic, thermoelectric, ferroelectric, and ferromagnetic properties. However, nearly all of the reported synthesis methods for CuCrSe2 are limited to complicated mechanical exfoliation or chemical vapor deposition. The colloidal synthesis and optoelectronic properties of CuCrSe2 nanocrystals have rarely been investigated, leaving a critical void in understanding their solution-phase growth and device potential. Herein, the high-quality rhombohedral structure CuCrSe2 nanodiscs with uniform shape and monodisperse size are first synthesized through a facile one-pot solution bottom-up method. Investigating various reaction parameters, we propose a potential growth pathway of CuCrSe2 nanodiscs via intermediate formation of Cu2-xSe seeds. Significantly, the photodetector fabricated from CuCrSe2 nanodiscs exhibits remarkable broadband response from 450 to 1064 nm wavelengths, achieving excellent stability and a fast response time of 70 ms. This work not only establishes a robust synthetic pathway for non-van der Waals 2D materials but also reveals the promising optoelectronic capabilities of CuCrSe2 for next-generation devices.
