Analysis reports new fungal species and records in Dagestan, suggesting broader fungal diversity.
New data on 30 species of aphyllophoroid fungi recorded for the first time for the Gunib Plateau (Innermountainous Dagestan, North-Eastern Caucasus) is presented. Among them 22 ones are new to the Republic of Dagestan, including 13 fungal species (Athelia fibulata, Botryobasidium intertextum, Eonema pyriforme, Leptosporomyces fusoideus, Paullicorticium pearsonii, Peniophorella clavigera, Phlebia segregata, Cyanosporus auricomus, C. cyanescens, Sarcoporia polyspora, Tomentellopsis echinospora, Xenasmatella fibrillosa, and Xylodon tuberculatus) are registered for the first time for the Northern Caucasus. All specimens are collected on dead wood of Pinus kochiana fallen trunks and deposited in the LE mycological herbarium (St. Petersburg, Russia). Among pine-inhabiting fungi revealed two ectomycorrhizal species, Thelephora umbrinospora and Tomentellopsis echinospora, were recorded. Remarkable findings of Eonema pyriforme, Leptosporomyces fusoideus, Paullicorticium pearsonii, Peniophorella clavigera, and Xylodon tuberculatus are briefly discussed.
