Cytotoxic activity assessed using the MTT assay reveals moderate effects of garcicelebicin A in HeLa and 4T1 cells, suggesting potential therapeutic properties.
A new geranylated xanthone, garcicelebicin A ( 1 ), along with cheffouxanthone ( 2 ) and bangangxanthone A ( 3 ), was successfully isolated from the twigs of Garcinia celebica L. Structural determination was based on spectroscopic data analysis using HRESI‐TOFMS, IR, UV, and 1D‐, and 2D‐NMR). The cytotoxicity of xanthones 1 – 3 was evaluated against HeLa and 4T1 cells using the MTT assay. Compound 1 exhibited moderate activity against HeLa and 4T1 cells with an IC 50 value of 13.24 ± 0.18 and 16.94 ± 0.20 µ m , respectively, whereas compounds 2 – 3 were inactive.
