Randomized controlled trial shows treatment improves PSQI in primary insomnia, suggesting acupoint compatibility is more effective.
Background: To observe the different effect of single acupoint and acupoints compatibility on the Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) of primary insomnia patients. Methods: 60 patients with primary insomnia were randomly divided into 2 groups: single acupoint group and acupoints compatibility group, with 30 cases in each group. The single acupoint group electroacupuncture the “Shenmen (HT 7)” acupoint, the acupoints compatibility group with the “Sancai” acupoint. To observe the different effect of single acupoint and acupoints compatibility on the PSQI of primary insomnia patients. Results: After treatment, the effective rate was 86.67% and 66.67% respectively, and the compatibility group was significantly better than the single acupoint group. In the PSQI total score, there were significant differences in before and after treatment and follow-up period between the compatibility group and the single acupoint group, and the compatibility group was superior to the single acupoint group. Conclusion: Single acupoint and the acupoints compatibility are both effective in treating primary insomnia, and the efficacy of acupoint compatibility is superior to that of single acupoint, and the long-term acupuncture effect is better too.
