The technique demonstrates efficient sulfonylation in water, suggesting an eco-friendly method for diverse β-ketosulfones.
An efficient and environmentally benign protocol for the visible‐light‐mediated sulfonylation of α‐bromoacetophenones has been developed, enabling the synthesis of diverse β‐ketosulfones in good to excellent yields. This reaction proceeded in water at room temperature using Eosin B as an organic photoredox catalyst. Notable advantages of this method include mild reaction conditions, operational simplicity, and a broad substrate scope, thereby offering a practical and sustainable approach to β‐ketosulfone construction.
