Objective. To evaluate metabolic and neuroprotective properties of Cytoflavin in complex outpatient rehabilitation after radiofrequency ablation for atrial fibrillation. Material and methods. We analyzed the results of outpatient rehabilitation of 112 patients (50 men and 62 women, mean age 58.2±7.1 years) with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation after radiofrequency ablation. Patients were randomized into two groups: group I (main, n=59) — Cytoflavin (inosine+nicotinamide+riboflavin+succinic acid) prescribed in two-step scheme (20 ml intravenously in saline solution 200 ml for 10 days, then 2 tablets 2 times a day for 20 days); group II (comparison, n=53) — 10-day course of daily intravenous infusions of placebo 10 ml diluted in saline solution 200 ml followed by vitamin B12 (Vitamir) 1 tablet 1 time a day for 20 days. Cardiac parameters (echocardiography and ECG) and quality of life (HADS and MOS SF-36 questionnaires) were assessed before and after therapy. Results. Inclusion of Cytoflavin in outpatient rehabilitation therapy contributed to regression of ventricular hypertrophy (left by 1.2 times, right by 1.4 times) due to metabolic properties of this drug. Neuroprotective properties decreased anxiety by 5.3 times and depression by 1.7 times (HADS scale), as well as increased resistance to physical and emotional stress by 1.4 times (SF-36 scale). Conclusion. Inclusion of Cytoflavin in complex outpatient rehabilitation of patients with atrial fibrillation after radiofrequency ablation increases the effectiveness of treatment due to improvement of metabolic processes (reduction of atrial hypertrophy) and neuroprotective properties (reduction of anxiety and depression, increased resistance to physical and emotional stress). These data can be used for further studies.
