Case highlights eosinophilic gastroenteritis causing gastrointestinal polyps in an elderly male, suggesting prednisone may alleviate symptoms.
Eosinophilic gastroenteritis is a rare gastrointestinal disorder involving eosinophil-predominant inflammation and associated clinical symptoms. We report the case of an elderly male patient presenting with multiple gastrointestinal polyps. Endoscopic biopsy identified dense eosinophilic infiltration. As the disease progressed, the patient developed gastrointestinal symptoms, concomitant with increased diffuseness of polyp distribution. Symptoms significantly improved after oral prednisone.
