Key Points

  • Highly resistant elite wheat genotypes provide significant resistance against yellow rust disease.
  • Identified novel QTLs highlight potential pathways for marker assisted selection in wheat breeding.
  • Genome-wide association study was conducted on elite spring bread wheat genotypes to uncover genetic factors linked to disease resistance.
  • Findings support future breeding efforts aimed at improving wheat resilience against yellow rust.

Abstract

The highly resistant elite genotypes are recommended for direct release and parentage purposes. The novel QTLs identified in the current study could be potentially used for marker assisted selection after validation using another set of elite wheat genotypes.
