Interviews with early-career researchers explore findings on bottlenose dolphin and marine species, emphasizing diversity in experimental biology.
ECR Spotlight is a series of interviews with early-career authors from a selection of papers published in Journal of Experimental Biology and aims to promote not only the diversity of early-career researchers (ECRs) working in experimental biology but also the huge variety of animals and physiological systems that are essential for the ‘comparative’ approach. Ioulia Koliopoulou is an author on ‘ Heat increment of feeding in the common bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) contributes moderately to field metabolic rate estimates’, published in JEB. Ioulia conducted the research described in this article while a Graduate student in Andreas Fahlman's lab at Linköping University, Sweden. Ioulia is now a Biologist in the lab of Aris Poulimas at Corfu Aquarium, Greece, investigating enrichment practices in marine and reptile species.
