Reversible four-electron redox process involving dirhodium complexes indicates new electronic structure insights.
A reversible four-electron redox process between RhII2, RhI2, and a formal Rh02 complex was achieved using a redox-active, structurally flexible PDI 2 ligand. The electronic structure was investigated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, UV-vis-NIR, and L 3 -edge XAS spectroscopy.
