Hydrothermal synthesis improves photocatalytic efficiency for Rhodamine B removal in sunlight, indicating potential for environmental applications.
ZnWO 4 /BiOCl photocatalyst was prepared by the hydrothermal route of synthesis, and it was characterized by various characterization techniques. Sunlight‐responsive photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) was evaluated. The best performing 10 wt% ZnWO 4 /BiOCl photocatalysts remove about 97% (RhB, 10 mg/L), whose photocatalytic degradation rate was 10‐times and 5‐times superior to ZnWO 4 and BiOCl parent materials respectively. The strong visible light absorption by 10 wt% ZnWO 4 /BiOCl nanocomposite, band position of ZnWO 4 and BiOCl, which are like Z‐scheme, proficient suppression of electron‐hole recombination, and formation of reactive oxygen species in situ are the main reasons for the better photocatalytic efficiency of ZnWO 4 /BiOCl nanocomposite.
