Driving Innovation Through Knowledge Sharing: A Systematic Literature Review and Future Research Agenda

ABSTRACT This research aims to analyze existing studies and summarize the literature on “Knowledge Sharing (KS)” and “innovation” by reviewing relevant papers. The goal is to identify the most frequently cited papers, influential researchers, productive journals, and leading countries in this field. This study will provide insights into the extensive body of literature and highlight potential areas for further investigation. Using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis (PRISMA) methodology, the research examined 462 studies from the Scopus database. The VOS Viewer and Biblioshiny tools were employed for bibliometric analysis. This includes performance evaluation, trending topics, and bibliographic coupling methods to uncover connections between KS and innovation. The bibliometric analysis reveals key stakeholders in the current research landscape. Additionally, the study identifies six main research themes within the existing literature. An ADO (Antecedent, Decision, and Outcome) framework has been proposed to establish a foundation for future research. Further investigation suggests that key theories, that is, Knowledge‐Based View (KBV), Social Exchange Theory (SET), Resource Based View (RBV), and so forth, are essential in KS and innovation literature. The literature review also presents relevant research questions that can be explored within these themes. The research examines the relationship between KS and innovation, noting a significant increase in publications over the past 25 years. This study aims to inform organizations, supervisors, and policymakers about effective knowledge‐sharing mechanisms that significantly enhance innovation.
