The article is devoted to the description of the history of the origin and development, methodological justification and direct research procedure of the method of intentional (motivational-target) analysis, developed within the framework of Russian academic science by Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor of Sociology T.M. Dridze. This method is qualitative: the object of study is the semantic aspects of communication interactions in the “human-socio- cultural environment” system. The subject of the study is the peculiarities and communication mechanisms of social meanings of the socio–cultural environment in the perspective of socially significant processes initiated by them, on the one hand, and, on the other, the peculiarities of the refraction of meanings functioning in society in the “worldviews” of representatives of different groups, including sociomental ones. The relevance of the method is related to new opportunities for social cognition: sociomental differentiation based on demonstrated understanding skills in the field of social communication; evidence-based identification of semantic dominants and communication mechanisms in analyzed works, materials, historical documents, propaganda campaigns; real-time tracking of semantic features of communication interactions in the digital environment, etc. The author’s statements are illustrated by the data of comprehensive sociological studies conducted using the analyzed method.
