Anxiety and other psychiatric comorbidities are often linked to Alcohol dependency, a chronic illness. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of anxiety in patients with Alcohol dependence and investigate any associations between these conditions and sociodemographic factors. A non-experimental research design was employed for this study at selected hospitals in Aizawl, Mizoram. A non-probability purposive sampling technique was used to gather a sample of 100 alcohol-dependent patients from both the Inpatient (IPD) and Outpatient Departments (OPD). A semi-structured sociodemographic questionnaire was used in conjunction with standardized instruments, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale (GAD-7). The data were analysed with SPSS version 20.0, applying frequency distributions and Chi-square tests to determine associations. The findings showed that mild anxiety was the most prevalent, reported by 40% of participants, and Chi-square analysis revealed a statistical significance between anxiety and family type(p=0.037). Regular screening and integrated treatment approaches that address substance abuse and mental health issues are crucial, as the results show that anxiety is prevalent among alcohol-dependent individuals.
