Population

38,190 patients with first-time acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and hypertriglyceridemia (triglycerides ≥ 1.7 mmol/L) receiving statin therapy, mean age 60.83, 67.3% male, from the Tianjin Coronary Artery Disease Specialized Database. Exclusions: age <18 or >100 years, severe hepatic/renal dysfunction, missing data, or no statin prescription.

Intervention

Acipimox added to statin therapy during hospitalization.

Comparator

Statin monotherapy (no acipimox).

Outcome

1-year major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE: composite of cardiac death, recurrent MI, ischemic stroke, and coronary revascularization) and net adverse clinical events (NACE: MACCE plus all-cause mortality and bleeding events).composite

Adding acipimox to statin therapy in patients with acute myocardial infarction and hypertriglyceridemia is associated with a significantly reduced 1-year risk of major adverse cardiovascular events without increasing safety risks.
