An editorial outlining the future initiatives and celebrating the 90th volume of the Circulation Journal.
As we celebrate the publication of the 90 th volume of Circulation Journal, I am reminded of the long, steady path our community has taken to build and sustain this scientific platform.Since its founding in 1935, the Journal has served not only as a repository of cardiovascular science originating from Japan but also as a forum where investigators all around the world and beyond share discoveries, challenge prevailing concepts, and collectively shape the future of our field. The past decade has witnessed remarkable shifts in cardiovascular medicine: the integration of multi-omics into heart failure phenotyping, rapid evolution in structural heart interventions, the rise of oncocardiology as a discipline, and the transformation of imaging from morphology to biology. At the same time, digital health, artificial intelligence, and data-driven approaches have fundamentally altered how we diagnose disease, conduct research, and deliver care. These scientific waves have naturally influenced the submissions we receive. We are pleased to see increasing diversity in study design, ranging from pragmatic clinical research to mechanistic basic science, as well as rising global engagement, with nearly half of our recent submissions now coming from outside Japan. We are committed to continuing to improve the Journal's visibility and impact factor. As editors, we recognize that the scientific landscape demands increased rigor, transparency, and reproducibility.Beginning with Volume 90, the Journal will implement several initiatives: 1. Stronger expectations for statistical clarity and data availability 2. Promotion of methodologically sound prospective research 3. Facilitation of cross-disciplinary cardiovascular science 4. Continued expansion of our international reviewer panel to ensure balanced and fair evaluation We also reaffirm our commitment to nurturing early-career investigators.Their perspectives and creativity will determine what the next decade of cardiovascular science will look like.To this end, we will continue to present the Circulation Journal Awards to honor ambitious young researchers.
