Abstract The prevalence rate of contraception has been 67%, according to the National Family Health Survey-5 (NFHS-5). Chhaya pills were introduced to help women at no cost and to provide a safe spacing alternative. The aim of the study was to assess the knowledge and attitude on Chhaya pills among reproductive women and to determine the effectiveness of midwife-led teaching. A pre-experimental one-group pre- and post-test design was used. Sixty reproductive women from a selected rural area were selected using a convenient sampling technique. The intervention consisted of midwife-led teaching on Chhaya pills using a PowerPoint presentation. Knowledge and attitude about Chhaya pills were assessed before and after intervention. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. There were significant changes in the pre- and post-test (t = 33.547, P < 0.001) level of knowledge and attitude score (t = 66.69, P < 0.001). The result also shows that the parity of women had a significant association with the pretest level of knowledge and attitude, type of family, and women adapting any contraception had a significant association. The study concludes that Midwife led teaching was efficiently improved the level of knowledge and attitude on Chhaya pills.
