Theoretical framework demonstrates phase transitions in consciousness using quantum simulations, highlighting anesthetic effects.
"This work is a component of the Phase-Dependent Scaling Program (2026) and is theoretically grounded in the 1.91x Critical Scaling Gap identified in Omandac (2026, Paper 1)." The physical basis of consciousness remains one of the most profound unsolved problems in science. We present a unified theoretical and computational framework demonstrating that consciousness requires sustained super-radiant quantum coherence across microtubule networks, and that anesthetics induce a catastrophic phase transition in this coherent state. Using high-resolution N=100 open-system quantum simulations, we reveal a fundamental scaling divergence between conscious and unconscious states. Rather than a transient decay, we identify two topologically stable plateaus: an Upper Plateau (alpha approx -0.02) characterizing healthy neural integration, and a Lower Plateau characterizing the fragmented anesthetic state. Most significantly, we define the Critical Scaling Gap—a precisely quantifiable 1.91× ratio between these plateaus—as the definitive physical signature of the consciousness-anesthesia transition. This framework explains how neural substrates maintain robust 'Integrated Cores' despite environmental noise, providing a quantitative bridge between quantum thermodynamics and phenomenological collapse.
