Abstract BACKGROUND: The forest richness of the Himalayan region is inexhaustible with exceptional medicinal fora and incredible economic significance. 964 medicinal and aromatic plants have been reported from Uttarakhand. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study is based on an extensive medico-ethnobotanical survey conducted during 2018–2019. The study aimed to explore the diversity of medicinal plants and to document the ethno-medicinal folk claims prevailing among the local inhabitants of the Someshwar forest range of Almora Forest division, Uttarakhand. Medico-ethnobotanical survey was conducted in different areas of Someshwar forest range of Almora Forest division in 2018–19, to identify and document the indigenous traditional knowledge. RESULTS: A total of 84 plant species belonging to 46 families were documented and 30 medicinal plant species were identified from the study area. Indigenous knowledge of 10 folk claims was collected by interacting with local inhabitants and folklore healers. CONCLUSION: This study is an attempt to explore the diversity of medicinal plants and to document the ethno-medicinal folk claims. It was observed that jaundice is the prominent prevailing disease as the area is situated in the basin of rivers.
