Abstract In this study, the stochastic thermal properties of fibrous composite materials with parallel yet randomly distributed fibers were determined through numerical simulations. The simulations were conducted for 1000 random fiber arrangements for each selected set of material parameters, including the thermal conductivities of the matrix and the fibers, as well as the fiber volume fraction. A probability density function was fitted to the virtual measurements of the effective thermal conductivity obtained, and the mode and standard deviation were subsequently calculated.
